Episode 25: How Small Farms in Nigeria Could Feed the World

In our last episode on agriculture there was a prediction that Africa will be feeding the world within a couple of decades. Before that scenario becomes a reality, there are still serious problems on the continent that need to be solved, like food scarcity and poverty. Growth in agriculture has been proven to be two or three times as effective at reducing extreme poverty, promoting economic growth and ensuring food security than any other sector. And because 80% of the consumed food has been produced by smallholder farmers, it’s time to talk about this group, the backbone of African economies. In today’s episode we will talk about great African initiatives that aim to solve the problems small farms experience and the huge potential in Agriculture for Africa. We are honoured to do this in our four part series together with the Netherlands African Business Council and today with Andre Schaap the CEO of Farmforte Europe.
